INTRODUCTION

The Constitution of the United States is 200 years old in 1987. To celebrate this auspicious occasion, these Constitution Papers are being issued by the Central News Service. These Papers could merely add luster to the brightly polished image of the founding of the United States, but such would not be original because 1987 will be full of heroic episodes and titanic personalities from the 1700's. Instead, the major events and personalities of that era will be portrayed in unbiased detail to reveal deeper insights into what actually transpired, to give us all a powerful view, back in time, of the Revolutionary period.

To reiterate Washington's refrain, "I cannot tell a lie," (which never happened), or Thomas Jefferson's act of drafting the Declaration of Independence, would be to re-hash well known things; instead, these Papers approach the era from a desire to unearth little known facts surrounding the adoption of the Constitution of 1787.

To celebrate 200 years of the Constitution, we now present you with the CONSTITUTION PAPERS. May this be a celebration that no American may forget.
